Press Release: Black History Benefit Fashion & Cultural Event

The 5th Annual Black History Benefit Fashion & Cultural Event, produced by FashPhiletta Designs LLC (CEO / Philetta K. Phillips), will be held at Alegria Gardens Reception Hall, 18311 Clay Rd, Houston Texas 77084 on Sunday, March 24, 2019. This year’s theme is “Bridging The Gap“. Dr. Martin Lurther King Jr said so eloquently that “The only race is the Human race”.

The Black History Benefit Fashion Show has been held annually in Houston, TX since 2014 to celebrate and commemorate, through fashion, the achievements of Black/African Americans. This red carpet event recognizes the central role of African Americans in U.S. history, teaches the richness in the African fabric and culture, promotes and supports upcoming designers and models, and supports small businesses of all race and ethnicity in the Texas area.

“Being an Immigrant and and a small business owner myself, I completely understand and have a great appreciation for the challenges in breaking through to succeed. That was my driving force in producing this event. The Black History Fashion Show goes well with the city of Houston because Houston is an international city and the show also celebrates the rich diversity of this great city. It is my hope and sincere prayer that through this event talented designers and models, Photographers and Videographers, MUA and Beauty schools will be discovered, small businesses will be promoted, friendships and networking will be established thus allowing all of us to bridge the gap.” says Philetta K. Phillips.

Percentage of proceeds will be donated to Gracewood Homeless Shelter (Non Profit Organization) to uplift and support their cause which is our way of giving back to humanity. The designers are FashPhiletta Designs, TeKay Designs, Nina Shari Designs and Daapre Fashion Empire. Please join us as we celebrate culture through fashion.

The event key note speaker is Ms. Helena Washington. She is a licensed addiction and mental health professional, with 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and family systems. Over her 25 years of experience, Ms. Washington has acquired academic and professional certifications which include M.Ed., LCDC, ICADC, MAC.

The event co-hosts are Legendary Hollywood Actor David McKnight and the President & CEO of Amazing You Inc, Mrs. Effua McGowan. The Red Carpet hosts are Randy and Gussie Fuller (Former NFL Player & OTFPWA). The show models makeup and hair will be supervised by celebrity makeup artist Ms. Lakia Curtis and done by 89 Beauty School “Glam Team”.

Door prizes and raffles will be issued to guests / lucky winners by Majestic Medi Spa. This includes one Laser Hair Remover, Area treatments, one Eyebrow Microblading, Contouring treatments, One Cellulite Treatment, One Hydrafacial Treatment, One Aging Facial Treatment, One Full set of Eye Lash Extensions, etc.
